OTHER AWARD IDEAS

Of course there are medals and ribbons at the end of the year to reward the kids efforts, but what about throughout the year? Below are some other reward ideas that you can use all throughout the year:

 

Pizza Party - Have a pizza party as a reward for your missionary participation competitions (see the interact, intercede, and invest lessons and a copy of these flyers for more information on this competition), various competitions between grades, or as a prize for all children who go a specific distance in their books. Many times a local pizza chain will give you a discount for ordering a certain number of pizzas. Plan ahead and tell the kids what night it will be.

Have an Ice Cream Party - Once again have an ice cream party as a reward for your missionary participation competitions (see the interact, intercede, and invest lessons and a copy of these flyers for more information on this competition), various competitions between grades, or as a prize for all children who go a specific distance in their books. You can do an ice cream party like this just for certain kids, or you can also give everyone some ice cream, but only those who you are rewarding get access to special table for of ice cream toppings. Plan ahead and tell the kids what night it will be.

Leader Pie in the Face Night - Once again have this night as a reward for your missionary participation competitions (see the interact, intercede, and invest lessons and a copy of these flyers for more information on this competition), various competitions between grades, or as a prize for all children who go a specific distance in their books. On this night, children who won get to throw a whip cream or shaving cream pie in the face of the commander and/or some of their leaders. Children love this! Again plan ahead and tell the kids what night it will be. Sometimes it is a bit more fun not to tell them who is getting a pie until the last minute. Have the leaders wear an old t-shirt. You can also buy a cheap plastic paint drop cloth from the store and punch a hole for their head to come up through. It helps protect the leaders clothes and church furniture and floors.

Take a Special Trip - Use this night as a special reward at the end of the year for the class who participated the best or as a prize for all children who go a specific distance in their books. Ideas can range from many things including having a game day at a local park, going on a tubing trip down a nearby river, going to a local professional sports game, taking a camping trip, going to an amusement park, watching an air show, etc. Many of these things might be better if the parents are included and of course all the safety and permission slip type of stuff should be filled in that your church normally does for these kinds of things.
